get my first sentence out correctly -). (I'm "seating" should be I'm
"sitting".
I'd better stop reading my message.

| Forget it Cindy....concentration is going to be impossible!
I know, I just went through the same thing a few weeks ago.
I ended up with a gorgeous Arabian Gelding and an Arab/Morgan
mix. My new babies are the limelight of my life right now
and having to come to work every day is total torture. I just
want to look, hug, ride, brush, hug, talk, sing, hug....
I'm very thankful that I only work "mother's" hours and can
buck out of here at 3:00...I sure haven't been putting in any
after-hours stuff lately.......wonder why!
Its even more torture when you want the horse that badly and
have to wait before you can even buy it! Take your time though...
I jumped the gun a month ago...bought an Appy Mare on a whim......
she turned out to be a bad horse and almost killed me! Couldn't
buck me off so she decided to rear up, flip over, and land on top
of me. I'm still not supposed to be riding...but what does the
Dr. know anyway! I have a hairline fracture in my ankle and the
biggest bruised leg and butt this side of the Mississippi river!
Then I paid a fortune for two different trainers to come up and
figure her out....she did the same thing to them..as well as try
and bash them into metal fence gates, rocks, and so on. After
three weeks of anguish, I sold her to someone who will have to
completely re-train her (at a HUGE financial loss I might add)
SOOOO moral to the story...be excited, keep dreaming, get a little
work done, but DON'T rush it ... no matter how badly you want it.
CONGRATULATIONS..........I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for ya.

| Well the previous horse that I tried out was bucking and rearing - I
lasted one round when I said -forget THIS horse! I was not going to
spend money on a horse that did that to me.
Even though I was pretty tense and nervous (since I didn't have a good
last experience to fall back on - what a pun!) Midnight did pretty
well. He was fast at the trot and canter but my 2nd canter was better
than my first. I remembered most of the things I was supposed to do by
the time I did my 2nd canter - like SIT in the saddle and go with the
flow...
Cindy - counting the days
P.S. What's also killing me is that I've got pictures from last night's
ride to show to my instructor tonight. So I can't wait...

| Well if you can go up to the barn every day...do it. The more
time you spend with Midnight, the more sure of the horse you'll
be. So what if the laundry piles up, your husband has to cook
every day, and the kids have to finally get rides to everywhere
for a while....I wanted to make sure this time I was right....
so I took the time.....you should do the same...just plan on
moving your bed into the barn for a month or so! I'll love
to see the pics!
Hang in there...... and your seat will come back in no time. I
went 15 years and although I'll never ride the way I used to...
I'm doing ok.
Wen
and Apache Warrior and Aladans Magic and my six dogs, two Iguanas, and
cat are all rooting for you!

Hi,
We looked at Midnight as well (for a friend) and we loved him to death!
He is a super horse - he is strong and once he gains weight he will be
stronger. He will need to ridden alot and he will some training.
but if you have the time, he is super boy!
my friend has not decided yet if she wants him, may the best one win

Hi Linda. My instructor looked at my pictures of Midnight and felt that
his build wasn't strong enough to carry me. Since I'm overweight she
wants to see a horse built more like a quarter horse - Midnight is
narrow in the chest. She's afraid that he'll break down eventually with
all the jumping that I want to do (low-level eventing).
I did like Midnight's personality. He was a bit strong at the canter
but I think work and disipline is the key for him.
So please tell your friend good-luck with him (if she decides to go
with him).
And if you hear of a medium boned quarter horse (or mix), 7 - 11 years
old, gelding, 15h3 minimum, fairly calm but spunky, please think of me.

Cindy, I am kinda happy midnight didn't work out for you. My friend
Terry bought him home lastnight. He passed his vet check (w/Xrays)
with flying colors.
Have you found one yet?

2039.13 | there's hope... | LJSRV1::SCHLENER | | Mon Jun 17 1996 14:13 | 24 |
| Well... actually I think I HAVE!!!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up
(which of course is why I find work very difficult - I keep thinking
about all the things I need to work on with the horse).
Anyhow, I found a TH/Hanovarian chestnut mare in NH. She's everything I
planned not to look at. She's big, chestnut, a mare, and has real long
gaits. I was looking for a bay/black gelding.
However this mare seems really nice - she put up with a really bad jump
with no more of a hopping motion to get her balance. (after lookin at
the pictures no wonder she had to hop after what I was trying to do).
Even though I'm used to short, choppy strided horses, I really did
appreciate her long gaits - it wasn't difficult to do a sitting trot on
her.
I'm starting to like chestnuts again...
Well tonight my instructor looks at the pictures (I've hidden away the
jumping pictures for fear of what my instructor will say of my form etc
-)... ).
Hopefully we'll see Belle on Wednesday. Then the vet check and then -
oops I forgot to mention the bargaining. Sooo, maybe I'll have a horse
by July 4th.

Good luck Cindy!
When I bought Sultan (chestnut arab) I told my self I would NOT buy
under any reason 1) an Arab or 2) anything in a brownish shade
I only wanted color for my horse and I wanted a QH.
I belive they buy you, you don't buy them.
