2009.0. "Horses in Rutland" by SUBSYS::MISTOVICH () Mon Jan 15 1996 12:28

I'm looking at a house with 3 acres in Rutland to bring my horse home to. Is
anyone familiar with zoning in Rutland? How about the location of state
forests/conservation land/trails? This house is off 56, up near where 56 and
68 meet.

    There is "Rutland state park" (also known as the Rutland Prison Camps)
    A former prison area for German soldiers. It's a Huge area West of you
    with loads of trails.
    Not sure how your access to it is, there are many routes into it, if
    it's close your sure to have wonderful trail riding.
    Been a while since I lived in Rutland or been to the park I used to
    ride there, it was also a big 'party' area for my high school crowd
    (so many trial roads no one could find us)
    I know some rules have changed, some gates are up, it's more 'official'
    now, so you'd need to talk to the park or the locals. I'm sure the
    town hall could show you the map locations of the house and the park and
    tell you more about it as well.
