2002.0. "help - how to sit still." by JGO::VOERMAN () Wed Dec 20 1995 07:39

    Hello,

I have been following this notes-conference for a while now.
I am Dutch and riding is my favourite hobby.

I read something about "sitting while trotting". This is my
biggest problem. I just cannot sit still.

    Any handy, practical tips??

    Thanks,
    Nelleke Voerman.

    Hello and welcome!

Bouncing at the sitting trot is usually caused by poor balance or
tension in the muscles of the seat and leg. Without seeing you ride,
it is difficult to make a specific recommendation. However, we have
discussed the general topic before. Note 4.59 has an index of Dressage
related notes. For example, there are two that should be of interest to
    you and may even help:

823 Need help with transitions and sitting trot
1533 Imagery in riding (which has several descriptions of riding
    		position, balance and sitting trot)

Of course, if you are taking lessons, you can ask your teach to give
you lessons on the lunge line. This is the best thing that anybody can
do to improve their riding. When I was a beginner, my teacher did this
for 1 year! I had a 1 hour lesson and it always began on the lunge.
