My horse has a suspected infection in the tendon sheaths of one of her hind legs following an operation a couple of weeks ago (see the above note on annular ligament lameness). I have to talk to the vet this morning but he has already suggested having them flushed out under general anaesthetic, he did mention that it can sometimes be done under local depending on the horse, which is what I would prefer. Has anyone else ever had this and know what the "flushing out" involves, any complications etc? It seems to be one thing after another right now. But we'll get there slowly. Thanks for any advice. Liz

I've just been informed of the seriousness of infection in the tendon sheaths. I had no idea until a riding instructor-friend told me of a horse they had last year with with problem. So, if anyone knows anything *at all* about this, whether good or bad, please, please post it in here asap. I will be out for the rest of this week but will ask a friend to log in and read nay reples. Thank you |
