1854.0. "Adults Only Riding Club" by MTADMS::DOUGLAS () Thu Feb 17 1994 07:43

    Hi Fellow Noters,

There IS life after Pony club!

We are starting an "adult" riding club, you must be at least
18 years old. This club is just starting up so come and join the
fun! We are currently holding the meetings at Brindle Ledge Riding
facility in Goffstown N.H. B.L.F. is offering the use of the
indoor/outdoor arena but please note that B.L.F. is NOT associated
    with this new riding club.

You can be a "riding" member (with your own horse or the use of
a horse), or a "non-riding" member (you can watch the clinics,
lectures, go to the parties, etc.)

The next meeting is at B.L.F. on March 15th at 7pm. We will
be holding a tail/mane braiding demonstration.

The first riding event will be April 16th around 3pm, more info
    to follow.

    The riding club will offer:

    -lectures -demonstrations -instruction
    -clinics -beer/pizza parties
-low key, low pressure events: jumping, dressage, teams, etc.

Sounds great - I was never involved in a pony club. I feel like
I really missed out when I was growing up. I presently am a member
of an equestrian interest club, Hollis Area Equestrians. While the
majority of the membership is adult there are a few junior riders
    who are members.

We hold our meetings at the either the Hollis Town Hall or the
Community Center in Pepperell and the membership fee is $10.00
for single and $15.00 for family. Unfortunately, we don't have
access to an indoor ring but there is a public riding ring in
Hollis which we use for some of our events.

The club sponsors educational seminars, dressage shows, gymkannas
(sp?), Hunter/Pace Event, etc. We also have social gatherings
like family picnics, Christmas parties, Christmas carolling on
horseback. This year we are planning a Murder Mystery ride.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 7th at the Hollis Town
Hall. The meeting starts at 7:00 and usually gets over around
    9:30. Refreshments are served.

Back to the Bridle Ledge Adult Riding Club - can you please post
    directions to the farm.

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

We have something similar out here in WA. The parent organization is
called Equestrians' Institute(aka EI) which is set up as an educational
foundation. EI sponsors clinics in the Olympic disciplines and Combined
Driving. EI also puts on a couple 3 day events each year.

A year or two ago, some of the folks got together and formed "The Adult
Pony Club" Ya don't *have* to ride a pony ;-) but you do have to be an
adult member of EI... The APC members do a lot less formal things with
local instructors, guest speakers, instructional videos, etc and have a
    lot of fun socializing too.

We also have something similar in my area. (Southeastern MA)
The organization is called "Horses for Adults" and seems to
do the same type things-clinics, demonstratons, outings, etc.
It is actually directed at beginner adults who are looking to get into
the horse thing, and helps these new horse enthusiasts by setting
them up with an experienced horse "mentor", so to speak....
