Hi-
	I ran across several horse related GIF / JPEG files recently.
If you're interested, they can be accessed (copied using decnet) via

preble::/usr/public/images/gif/horses-00.gif

(there are 237 images of various subjects in the gif directory)


preble::/usr/public/images/jpeg/horses.jpg

(there are 23 images in the jpeg directory).  The jpeg images are
extremely clear/crisp compared to the average GIF file. You should use
the current version of xv (version 3.0 with the visual schnauzer) for
either ULTRIX, OpenVMS, or OSF/1 (I don't know whether there's a 
Windows, or Windows/NT version available) to display the image in 
the root window of the workstation.

I did a quick search for GIF and JPEG in this notesfile, but did not
find any references.  Does anyone know of additional (equestrian) 
images publicly available ?

There are loads of GIF and CDR (CorelDraw) horsey piccies on the Usenet..
you need FTP on your system to be able to copy them, though. 

Mail me if you want details, I've got them somewhere but have never had
a chance to copy them over.

I'd guess this is a UNIX or OSF system.  Can you supply VMS
instructions ?  I can do a DIR but don't know what I'd get
on a COPY ?  Will these images work on VMS ?

    I copied the image over using the command:
    
    $ COPY preble::"/usr/public/images/gif/horses-00.gif" []horses.gif
    
    and it worked fine - read in and displayed fine in my image 
    display program.

It's version 3.0 and displays GIF, TIFF, ... and JPEG files.  I have
a compiled version for ULTRIX, OSF/1 AXP, and OpenVMS AXP. V3.0 has
the visual schnauzer in it for displaying directories of images in
thumbprint image form.

For U*X, OSF/1, and VMS users that have the UCX package, the 
preble:/usr/public/images directory can be remote mounted (so you 
don't need to copy the files over the net).

Amazing! I saved the file into postscript format and was able to
print a reasonable rendition.
