1727.0. "A tribute to Ghosty" by AIMHI::DOYLE (Lisa Doyle) Tue Apr 06 1993 12:56

I don't write very often here, but I read this notes file often and it
feels like I know many of you. I have had my horse for over 15 years
and he has been my best friend and companion. I had shown
him for many years pony hunter and he would have jumped the moon if I
had asked him to. He has been retired the past seven years just ridden
on trails and rested, after the great years he has given to me. He was
the most loyal and trustworthy horse I have ever known. We once had a
fall over a fence he fell and hurt himself instead of falling on top of
me and crushing me. After the fall he came right to me... hobbling and
    making sure I was ok.

After that fall, he was lame for 6 months. Ater he healed he was as
strong as ever. He was so happy to be jumping and going to horse
shows again... He loved to jump and wouldn't refuse anything I put
    in front of him.

We had a special bond that
doesn't happen very often... he could almost ready my mind when I was
riding him, I could just think canter and barely give the cue and he'd
already be cantering. There are a lot of special moments we have
together, I thought it would help if I shared them.

I lost him over the weekend to colic. I know we did everything we
could for him... it's just so hard to accept.

Ghosty.... you will always be with me, in my heart.
                                                       ....Lisa

Lisa, my heart goes out to you. Treasure your memories. In time the
pain will fade, and you will be reminded of the happiness he gave you
once again. He was a very special horse, and he was very lucky to have
had such a loving, kind owner, Im sure you made his life the best it
    could possibly have been.

    Lisa,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. That's the hardest part
of loving our pets, when we have to let go. Memories last
    forever.....

    Lisa,

The deeper our love ..the deeper the hurt goes when we lose them. I am
sorry that you and Ghosty were not able to overcome the struggle
against colic ..and for the hurt you are feeling now.

The things you learned from Ghosty ..the love and trust ...and years of
happy memories ..are a legacy that will keep Ghosty alive for you
    always.
