1610.0. "Exhibition Booth Displays" by ISLNDS::ROSTANZO () Thu Mar 19 1992 11:00

    We are looking for some ideas/attention getters for putting on a
    display at the Equine Exhibit in April (northhampton Ma). We are
    planning to have a breed specific booth where I will also be displaying
    my photography business. Currently we have the following ideas, but
    any other ideas or suggestions on making it a more attractive or
    attention getting booth will be appreciated!

    A buffet type table for: Handouts on the breed, and some of
    				the specific farms dedicated to this
    				breed's preservation, articles

    We would like to construct a backdrop; we are thinking 3 sections,
    3 ft x 5 1/2 feet; covered with a tan materials, with the mid
    section titled DAVENPORT ARABIANS. From the backdrop we would
    display photo's of the breed. We are still working on the best
    way to construct an easy to use backdrop and best way to display
    the photo's

    A TV and VCR to show demo tapes; on Local Davenport stock and tapes
    			from other farms working to preserve the breed

    If you are close enough, come to the Horseman's Faire
    (see note 1130.3) and scope out the booths for ideas....

1610.3Some other ideas I've received...ISLNDS::ROSTANZOFri Mar 20 1992 10:449

    Some other ideas I have been given offline;

    -Bring a baby or example of the breed (for viewing only... not handling)
    -Bags w/name/etc on it for holding viewers literature
    -Give away a photo/item etc . to someone who signs a registry to
    receive information on the breed (drawing)

 I was going to suggest a raffle, too...if you can get some farms to
 donate a small prize or $ for a prize, then you can raffle off a few
 items each day. Things like mugs, note paper, t-shirts would be
 affordable. When you announce the prize, you can say "Sponsored by
 Whatever_The_Name_Is Farm".

 Is Charlotte going to have her stallion on display at the stallion barn?

 In previous years, AHAM has always asked us for our old horse magazines
 so they can give them out to people who come by. Do you know if AHAM is
 going to have any riders this year?

1610.5Some of current plansISLNDS::ROSTANZOFri Mar 20 1992 11:3812

    I haven't talked with Cindy Brown lately, but I believe that
    Charlotte is bringing her gelding for show, pictures of her Stallion,
    Bregade UF will be on display and/or video. Paula will be bringing
    the stallion Black Prince UF for Native Costume class and
    I was told there will be a couple others in this class also (I assume
    the AHAM folks). They are considering raffling a free breeding
    to Mystic UF, who should also have photo's and/or video on display. We
    are working on video's from Craver farms and or handouts on his
    Davenports. I'll have to do some digging on the raffle items, which
    are a really good idea......

    	Northern Walking Horse is going to be raffling a breeding to
    	a Palomino TWH. We think they're going to be $5 apiece, winner
    	pays mare care. We'll see how well that works out...We've been
    	told that you can't sell anything to promote your club (ie hats,
    	tshirts w/logo).

    	Sherry

    	(anybody who wants to buy a raffle ticket, let me know!)

1610.7Giving something away free draws attention!!!BOOVX2::MANDILEVisit me at booth #15!Fri Mar 20 1992 13:006
    Oh, I meant to tell you what we are doing.....
    We are giving away a 50 lb bag of horse feed every hour, and
    we also had keychains printed up to hand out to anyone visiting
    the booth.

    Balloons were a big hit with the kids at the Horseman's Faire!

    They can be pre-printed w/ info, too!

    I would be EXTREMELY cautious about having a live animal at such an
    exhibition. There have been terrible incidents at dog and cat shows in
    recent history. It can't be too long before such things happen at horse
    events. Please don't leave your horses unattended at any show or
    exhibition.
