Doesn't Stonleigh-Burnham in Greenfield have a horsey summer camp?
(I assume, since you asked here, that horses are a requirement!)
They usually have ads in Equus, and Practial Horseman.

1608.2 | Try Dana Hall | HYEND::ARUSSAU | | Tue Mar 17 1992 12:42 | 10 |
| Another Suggestion ...
You can try Dana Hall Academy in Wellesley. They have an equine
program for school-year students there that is supposed to be very
good. Not sure about summer time activities. Very upscale school and
I would think a program there would be very pricey!!
Worth a try...

1608.3 | More thoughts on camps.. | HYEND::ARUSSAU | | Tue Mar 17 1992 12:58 | 16 |

I just thought of another ...
Try to contact Saddle Rowe in Medway, MA. They had summer programs in
the past and were very good. Tina and Cindy are sisters who run the
riding school program. They're very nice and if they don't have a
program, maybe they could recommend one.
Also, Andover Riding Academy might have a program. It's in Andover,
MA.
There may be notices on the board at the most popular tack shops. Try
Dover Saddlery in Wellesley, MA or the Equestrian Shop in No. Andover,
MA.
Just a few ideas ....

North Light Farm in Lunenburg (582-7748) has a summer camp program.
It is full days for two weeks. The student has to start in a private
lesson first to assess their ability, then they go into the lessons.
I believe they make you tack up your own horse and all that stuff.
I was quoted a price of $300 for the two weeks when I checked on it
for my niece.

Does anyone know anything about Honey Lane Farm's summer camp?
My daughter (age 11) is discovering horses! Help! She has had just
a few riding lessons, but is in love with them. We thought that a
summer camp experience would be a good starting point.
She's been to more generic day camps over the past few summer, and
last summer went to overnight camp for a week. She has no problems
with a 2-week overnight camp.
I've received the brochure from Honey Lane and am impressed, but hey,
this is all new to me and I'm not sure what to look for. Campers are
to come with a positive attitude, ready to work and learn. Okay so
far. The mornings consist of riding lessons (indoor arena available)
in small groups, barn mgt (mucking it out, I guess?), horse
maintenance. Looks like each camper is assigned a horse for the
duration. Afternoons consist of swimming, trail rides, or 1/2 trips
to event in the area.
Two weeks = ~$1,000....
If you have any input to either what to look for in a camp for a
beginner, please reply; if you can offer any input to Honey Lane per
se, pls send me mail, as I'm sure recommendations or complaints about
a camp should not be posted here.
Thanks!

| My Daughter is enrolled in a summer camp in Delaware.
They get the chance to clean stalls, clean tack brush
horses, pick feet, etc. At the end of the day a short lesson.
Then they come home. All this is only $130/week.

Re: last -
Thanks, I'll check the Globe.
re: -2 -
Wow, quite a difference in price, eh? Is your daughter
attending this camp during the day only, or as a resident, which
would include room and board?
The actual price is $900 for 2 weeks (there are 2 1-week sessions
priced at $450). These are overnight camps.
Thank you both for your input... anyone else?

1608.16 | Teela Wooket, Roxbury Vermont | WMOIS::BIBEAU_K | | Wed Apr 21 1993 12:36 | 12 |
| In Roxbury Vermont there is a camp Teela-Wooket. Although I have not
been associated with the camp for the last 15 years. I did attend for 5
years. At that time they ran a regular summer camp focusing on riding
as well as a spring camp two (2 weeks) sessions with only riding (4 to
5 hours/day, and an excellent instructor course. The camp at that time
had an excellent reputation, with nationally acclaimed instructors from
around the world.
Sorry I do not have any more updated information that that, perhaps
another noter can help.

Can anyone point me to a recent list of horse-related

go to a day camp.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks,
