1373.0. "Barn odors" by GLORYX::SANDLER () Mon Oct 08 1990 11:48

		INTRODUCING YOU TO NONSCENTS A NON-TOXIC, NON FLAMMABLE AND IS
	NOT HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

	NONSCENTS IS USED AS AN ADSORBENT MEDIA FOR ODOR, SMOKE, TOXIC GASES
	AND BACTERIAL ODOR.

	INDEPENDENT LABORATORY TESTS, AS WELL AS INDUSTRY STUDIES, HAVE SHOWN
	NONSCENTS TO BE NON EP TOXIC UPON ORAL, DERMAL, AND INHALATION EXPOSURE
	AND A NON-IRRITANT OF THE SKIN, AS DEFINED UNDER THE FEDERAL HAZARDOUS
	SUBSTANCES LABELLING ACT.

	THIS PRODUCT IS OSHA APPROVED.

	I PURCHASED A NEW PRODUCT FROM A FRIEND WHO CLAIMED SHE HAD RID
	HER BARN OF ALL ODORS. SHE ALSO STATED THAT BECAUSE OF IT MINERAL
	VALUE THE HORSES CAN EAT IT. SHE PUTS SOME OF IT IN HER FEED.
	IN SOME FORMS IT'S REUSEABLE...

	I USED IT IN MY BARN (AT LEAST WHERE I BOARD). 16 STALLS NO ACCESS
	TO THE OUTSIDE EXCEPT THROUGH DOORS AT EITHER END. FIRST I POURED
	THE POWDER ON THE FLOORS THEN I HUNG A CAP OR PACKAGE OF THE PRODUCT
	IN EACH STALL IN TWO DAYS THERE'S NO ODOR AND THE CAPS LAST 3
	MONTHS. THEN YOU TAKE THEM OUTSIDE IN THE SUN FOR TWO DAY
	AND THEY RID THEMSELVES OF THE ODORS. YOU THEN BRING THEM INSIDE AND
	REHANG THEM...... THE STUFF IS INCREDIBLE.....

	IT CAN BE USED IN THE HOUSE FOR PETS, KITCHEN OR OTHER ODORS

	CONTACT ME AT DASMIB::SANDLER
	OR
	(603)888-1044

	THIS STUFF IS GREAT, DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SMELL NICE.

	THERE'S SOMETHING FOR THE CAR TOO... RIDS THE CAR IF SMOKE.....

1373.2PDX / PDZ, a rose by any other name....ESCROW::ROBERTSWed Oct 10 1990 10:2917
    Sounds like this is the same stuff as Sweet PDZ, which was advertised
    quite heavily in horse magazines a few years ago. I used it for a
    while but found it expensive when used at the recommended amounts ( I
    think it was something like a half pound per day per stall - and I had
    13 horses at the time) Does the Blue seal stuff come as a powder or
    what, and how much do you have to use? You mentioned airing it out to
    re-use it. How do you do this with a powder? Or was that for some
    other form of the same stuff?

    I just talked to the folks at the Blue Seal store in So. Acton
    (Erikson's) and though they do not carry the Blue Seal PDX, they do
    carry PDZ at $9.95 for 50 lbs.

    Since I now have fewer horses, but in barn attached to my house, I
    will try this product again and report the results!

    stuff again.
1373.3it's sweet pdzGLORYX::SANDLERWed Oct 10 1990 12:1024
hi,

it is sweet PDZ. It has a thousand and one uses...

If you get a large flat container, like the ones used to hold water at the
bottom of a planter. You can fill this with PDZ and place it in a dark corner,
placing it in the sun will rid it of the odors, and all the odors in that room
will be gone. In about 4 weeks take the container outside and place in the
sun for about 3 days. The PDZ will be rid of the odors and ready for re-use.
It will last like this for about 5 years.

You can do the same in the stalls only you have to figure a way to hang it high
and out of the horses way. There's no problem if the horse eats the PDZ but
they may get hurt by the container. This is how you save money. Once you
powder the stall and then hang the container (needs to be able to get lots of
air) you will find that the container will maintain the stall for a long time.

Spread a small amount on the manure as you remove it and rid yourself of flies
and a smelly manure pile.....

use pdz everywhere, on the pets...... on the rugs(don't vacumn for two days)
and place those containers around.....

1373.5An odor killer??? Hmmmmm....BOOVX2::MANDILEThu Oct 11 1990 17:039
    This is a very interesting product.....

    I could use something to help with the litterbox odors
    as my basement is damp, and carries/holds the smell in
    the air. And, of course, the horse stalls & the rabbit
    cages could use a little "air freshener". I'm going to
    look into this some more.....

1373.7Supplier for PDX?ESCROW::ROBERTSFri Apr 17 1992 14:4119
    Well, I just rereead these notes and noticed that I had promised to
    report on the Sweet PDZ. I forgot to.... 8^( Anyway, I've been
    using it on uddy spots in my paddocks, and in wet spots in my stalls.
    My barn is close to the property line, so I like to be sure my
    neighbors aren't subjected to a lot of horsey odor. And this stuff is
    magic. Usually in the fist spring thaw, I have one muddy spot that
    smells like a sewer and this stuff makes the smell disappear. Seems to
    work for a long time, too.

    BUT -- I just this noontime went to Erikson's in Acton to get another
    50lbs (turns out I only need about 50lbs per year!) and they no longer
    carry it. And their distributor no longer carries it! Actually, I'm
    not surprised. I mean, how much can they be making if I only had to
    buy 50 lbs in a year for four horses?? What they used to carry was
    PDZ. Does anyone know if Blue Seal still carries the PDX brand of the
    same magic stuff? I bough 50lbs of lime instead, but it's nowhere near
    as good.
