I live in NH. and would like to have a horse appraised. Is there a service (business) I can contact to do this? -How much would this cost? I would be interested in All suggestions, who usually does appraisals? Nancy P.S. The horse is an Arabian and any referrals of names and numbers you could supply would be helpful. Are there problems with people over or under estimating their $ value?..please comment.

I know of two people here in Pittsburgh, PA who had horses appraised by Deb Bennett who writes for Equus. This was 2 years ago and cost them $100 apiece. The appraisal was for breeding suitablity, I don't believe a price value was given. Sandy | |||||

Nancy, If you are interested in getting your horse appraised for insurance reasons, I believe all you need is someone with "credentials," like a judge (R-rated by AHSA would probably be good), or even someon considered a professional, such as a breeder or trainer. I have no idea what the cost would be. Regards, Jennie |
