| The brand inspector in El Paso county is Eldon Crowder (sorry if I
spelled that wrong). The brand inspection certificate is a piece of
paper that basically states you do own the horse described. If you are
hauling the horse more than 75 miles, or across state lines, you need
the inspection. The brochure Eldon gave me goes into detail on all the
rules, and it gets pretty hairy. The lifetime inspection is good for
as long as I own the horse.

RE/LAST
Boy *thats* real interesting .. I didnt know that!
We bought and sold many horses, that had brands that came from okl, and
texas, and I cant for the life of me remember see anything of that
sort.
I would like to watch the auctions out here a little closer and see
what they have for paper..
DID anyone see the inquirer article about the horses and auctions??
I read it and I have been around horses all my life and have seen
some of them hit the meat truck , but I was sooo heart broken
when i read that, I cried for an hour.. I really jolted me!
sorry to change the subject, but the brand you were inquiring about
made me that about that when i read the acticle..
(btw) the inquirer acticle photos was taken at an auction in
virginia (I would like to know where) ......
I generally go and check out the horses in trailers and in the pens
out back before i look at a horse in the auction ring, I have seen some
sights , but never what i read..
sorry to pull this off track..

| YEA IT WAS...
I READ EM BUT I DONT..
WELL ITS BASICALLY WHAT THE HUMUNE SOCIETY WROTE UP,
YOU WRITE THEM ABOUT THE ACTICLE AND THEY ARE SENDING IT TO EACH STATES
GOVERNER..
I KNOW IT HAPPENS ALL OVER, I bought a colt from this small sale in
Brush Colorado, his hocks and knees were swollen and infected, I got
him for 75.00 registered.. turned out 3 years later in the
championship furity for cuttin' (my boyfriends father took and trained
on him.)
anyway... I generally dont get upset over this stuff, just that its
a shame, but i ended up crying for awhile over this..

| Since I don't read the inquirer, please update me on the article
to which you refer. From the sounds of it, the situation is
probably one we should all be aware of.

| it basically said that they have seen horses gone without food and
water , one i think died there or on the way to the sale, and
there was one that was suffering from malnutrion, and what happens is
people buy em'fateen them up and then sell em to the killers.
(which i was aware anyway) but like my father mentioned also,
is that accidents happen, and you'll see if from time to time,
but there is no reason for an animal to go without food or water,
or medical attention. One they mentioned at the sale had his back
legs (exposed were tendons and bone) the legs got caught in a grate.
sorry i cant go on... I know very well accidents happen however
there should either be put down or medical attention ( i perfer the
later myself, if humune) anyway they were asking you to fill out the
form and send it in and then they would sort the letters by state
and send it to the governer.
