1170.1 | Dover Saddlery | SKELTN::FOX | How do YOU spell relief? VACATION! | Tue Jan 30 1990 13:19 | 7 |
| When I was searching for a saddle, I tried a Lucinda Green all-purpose
event saddle (I can't remember which model name) from Dover Saddlery in
Wellesley, MA.
Good luck!

1170.3 | what I meant by a "wide channel" | USMFG::CRANCOURT | | Mon Feb 05 1990 12:14 | 19 |
| Re:note 1170.1 (what do I mean by a wide channel?) What I mean,
and I may not have the proper terminology, is the width of the space,
or channel, on the underside of the saddle. I gather this varies
from brand to brand and can also differ within the same brand.
For instance, the person for whom I actually made the inquiry has
borrowed two Lucinda Green saddles while searching for one to purchase.
Both saddles were the same model, but one had a wide channel. The
saddle with the narrow channel did not fit as well. On the horse
in question, the narrower channel had the net effect of pinching
him up around the shoulders because the saddle, overall, was not
as flush to his back as the one with the wider channel. Using a
Cashell Cushion did not improve the way the saddle fit his physique.

1170.4 | wide tree?? | TOMLIN::ROMBERG | wandering aimlessly... | Mon Feb 05 1990 12:26 | 3 |
| It sounds as though what you're looking for is a wide tree, as
opposed to a narrow, or regular. Am I correct?

1170.5 | tree vs. channel | USMFG::CRANCOURT | | Wed Feb 14 1990 14:58 | 15 |
| Re : trees and channels....
Folks in my barn refer to the tree when speaking of the width
of the underside of the saddle, and the channel as the space between
the left and right sides. The friend looking for the Lucinda Green
asserts that it is not a wide tree she is seeking, but a wide
channel. Being a relatively new rider ---I began 1 1/2 years ago
at a ripe age verging on antiquity --- I do not have all the lexicon
down pat, though I've got the basics. It may be that I am not
properly explaining what I am being told, but I am told tree and
channel are related, but different.

Charlotte

| Isn't that channel called the gullet - at least in pony club it
was!

1170.8 | I love my Lucinda Green | CLOVE::HEWSON | | Mon Feb 26 1990 16:38 | 7 |
| I just wanted to add that I have a Lucinda Green dressage saddle and
think that it is wonderful. I bought it about 4 years ago at the
Nashoba Valley Tack Shop which I think is out of business now. Good
luck in finding one, I am sure that it will be worth it.
