Well what a morning. On my way to work I stopped to help find a lost horse his home. I was comming into Ashby center when I noticed this fellow walking across the street. I thought I was dreaming and then I thought who would be walking their horse at 5:50 a.m. across the street. Know one was the poor bugger was by himself. I pulled the car over and went to get him (thank goodness he had a halter on). Wasn't sure what I was going to do and then another person stopped to give assistance. Then another vehicle stopped and went to a few places he knew who had horses. Well the first man who stopped had a rope so we tied the old bugger to a tree and luckily I had some horsey treats with me and found the owner. The old guy had just escaped and decided to go for a walk (I found out he is 30 years old). Well that made my day. Cindy

we had an old saddle bred gelding that would let himself out every day to go a mile down the road to the neighbors wife to get his daily apple. being in the country this was no problem and he would come home by the dirt road when he was finished. this went on for over 5 years until he died. | |||||

I used to board at my girlfriend's barn. One day she got a phone call that one of her horses was in a woman's back yard, munching on her lawn. Nancy went to get the horse, and it was my Ray-man. The woman explained to Nancy that she'd been noticing fresh hoof prints each day for over a week, but never saw the horse. Apparently, Ray had been letting himself out through the fence in the back of his field each day, dining on this woman's lawn, and returning for feed/bed time each evening. Nice of him to come back home... -julie |
