1026.0. "suggestions for making my trailermore 'comfortable'" by FRAGLE::PELUSO () Fri Aug 11 1989 10:57

I just bought a new 12' stock trailer last night. It has a basic,
removable 2 -horse divider type thing. I plan on using it mainly for
2 horses, so I want to make the bar thing more 'comfortable' for my
    horses.

I am planning on lining the trailer with plywood. any suggestions
on the thickness and how to attach it?

It has a single 3/4" bar for the chest and butt bars. The chest one
does not look comfortable, os I am having a welder fabricate a nice
rectangular one, like in a regular 2 horse. I would like to pad
it and the walls and center divider. Can anyone recomend someone
who can make those pads or tell me where I could buy them?

I am also having the welder put in some hooks and widgies for
hanging buckets, haybags, saddle racks and blanket racks.
I would really appreciate (SP?) any suggestions on locations
and the best types of widgies to use for this purpose.

    thanks in advance!

Michele (who knows she is gona make some mistakes, but is trying to
keep them to a minimum by learning from others :*)

One thing you can do for padding is to make them yourself. If you are putting
pads on top of wood, all you need to to is buy some pieces of foam (1-2 inches
thick), glue it onto the wood, and then buy a vinal fabric, stretch it over
the wood and foam and staple it to the back of the wood. It is extremely
simple to do, and you can buy the materials from a Canvas shop in your
area. A woman i know did the inside of her trailer in this manner.

If you want more info, let me know.

the july issue (i think) of practical horseman had a good article
on refurbishing your trailer. the article pointed out what tasks
should be done by a professional and what tasks could be easily
    done by a novice.

    of
    paint on the fenderss.....
Linda, try Blue Chip in Pepperrel Ma if you live near there. They
    have
several good deals.(sorry do not type well!)...I looked there and
they have some good prices. I got mine private sale, but this may
be a good place for you to start...
