Does anyone have information or a number/address on Video Rider?

I finally got the number for video rider!

It's 800-422-3360. You might want to ask for joyce koenig -
she's an instructor and could probably recommend something.

    I could borrow?

Please let me know, I could watch it as soon as I got it and return it
    promptly.

    Thanks,

889.6Update on EQUIVID and Schoolhouse VideoDECWET::JDADDAMIOWed Oct 02 1991 15:0936
The current address and phone for EQUIVID video sales/rental is :
                EQUIVID
                1139 Railroad Ave
                Clovis CA 93612
                (209)297-1219

Their current rental policy is $10 for 3 weeks from the day they *SHIP*
to you. They ship 2nd Day UPS which is included in the $10. However,
*YOU* pay the return shipping. The shipping time in both directions is
counted in your 3 weeks. Between that and the cost of shipping, you end
up paying about $15 for having the tape about 2 weeks.

If you join as a club member, the rental rate is $8 instead of $10 and
you get a 15% discount on any new tape you purchase. The discount is 25%
if it's a used tape(i.e. one that has been rented). Membership is a
one-time charge of $50. So, it's not worth joining unless you buy/rent a
lot of videos. For example, you would have to rent 25 videos or buy
over $333 worth of tapes (about 8 tapes at $40-$50 each) to break even. Of
course, some combination of buying/renting would add up to $50in
discounts too. Joining made sense for us because we've bought 9-10 tapes
over the past 3 years but if we were less extravagant, I wouldn't bother.

I'm not sure about this but I heard somewhere that Schoolhouse Video
mentioned in .3 is the same outfit and or were bought out by EQUIVID.
Does anybody know whether that's true or not? If anybody has bought
anything from Schoolhouse Video in the past year or so, that would
disprove the rumor. But I haven't had a flyer or anything from
Schoolhouse Video in a long time....maybe it's because I never ordered
from them. I know that the woman who runs EQUIVID has been in the video
business under a couple different business names in the past 10-15 years
so it's possible that she was Schoolhouse Video and is now EQUIVID. But
don't let that worry you. I think EQUIVID is here to stay. They are the
wholesalers to the industry and recently sealed a contract w/ Miller's
as well as doing a good retail business.

889.7Yet Another Update on EQUIVID and Schoolhouse VideoDECWET::JDADDAMIOAdmire spirit in horses & women!Fri Nov 15 1991 19:575
In Oct. 1991, EQUIVID reduced their one-time membership fee to $40 so
membership is more attractive than ever. You get discounts on rentals
    and purchases as a member.

Schoolhouse Video was a earlier incarnation of EQUIVID.
889.8New EQUIVID and Discovery Trail phone numberDECWET::JDADDAMIOAdmire spirit in horses & women!Mon Nov 25 1991 15:465
EQUIVID and Discovery Trail (two video sales/rental businesses operated by
Sally Lasiter) relcoated their store last week. They are still in
Clovis CA area but I don't have the full address.

The new phone number is (209)297-4086
889.9EQUIVID moved againDECWET::JDADDAMIOSeattle Rain Festival: 1/1-12/31Wed Jun 02 1993 18:5615
EQUIVID has moved yet again! Since they split off their mail/phone
order retail business from the wholesale business, they decided to move
the retail business to Texas to reduce costs.

    New Address:
    EQUIVID
    Bandera Hwy, Box 63563
    Pipe Creek TX 78063

    (800)872 9472 or (210)535-4455

They've also changed their policy on membership. Membership no longer
gets you a 15% discount on every tape you buy. Members now get 1)
better rates on tape rentals, 2) discounts on buying tapes that have
been rented, 3) special mailings offering discounts on certain tapes.

Subject: Horseman's Source videos

I'd just like to put in a quick plug for Horseman's Source
video mail-order rental (and purchase). I first saw them mentioned
on the net many months ago (last year?), and the recent mention in
another article prompted me to give them a public recommendation.

I've rented lots of movies, and the service has been excellent.
The process is very convenient - they send the movies in a box with a
postage paid return label, so returning them is as easy as posting
a letter. You can reserve titles in advance, and they will give
personalized service, such as noting your out-of-town schedule
so they don't ship a video you've been waiting for at a time when
you won't be home to receive it.

The cost is much more expensive than renting at your local video
store - but your local video store doesn't have these tapes! And
it's much cheaper than buying. You can rent 8 or 9 videos for
the average price of purchasing one. Renting two videos at a time
(cheaper, because the shipping is less) is $16.80. You can keep
the tapes 3 days and ship back on the 4th.

The downside is that there is a one-time upfront membership fee, so you
want to be sure you'll be renting regularly. At the time I joined,
the fee was $40 with one free rental (or $45 with two free rentals).
This is worth it if you expect to be renting more than a handful of videos.

For example, my recent rentals included the John Lyons Symposium
tapes and a tape of Anne Jensen and Reiner Klimke on Marzog and Ahlerich doing
a dressage Pax de Deux. [You don't have to be a dressage enthusiast for
the musical Kurs, Pax de Deux, and Pax de Trois tapes to be breathtaking!]

The upside is that the catalog is large, with hundreds of titles covering
all types of riding and training, regularly expanded, so you'll find plenty
of interest. A quick count shows 59+ dressage tapes, if that is your interest.

Their phone is 1-800-325-1894, 9-5 MST, M-F.

(I have no connection with Horseman's Source, other than as a customer.)
