891.0. "Dressage Enthusiast" by DEMON::DIROCCO () Thu Mar 16 1989 11:34

Hello out there! I just discovered this notes file on equitation,
and boy was I surprised! My name is Debbie DiRocco, I'm a graphic
    designer in Burlington, MA.

I have been riding for about 8 years now. I've owned my own horse,
he was a grade gelding and very sweet. My interst is Dressage and
his head was in the clouds. I donated him to a farm in Maine for
underpriveleged kids who cannot afford summer camp and riding (which
is so expensive in most places). At last report he is fine and very
happy going on trail rides with the kids and grazing on the acres
    and acres of fields.

Currently I am free-leasing a TBXQH mare. Her name is Fair Trial
but is affectionately known as Apple. I've been riding her for
2.5 years now and she's a super teacher. We compete at most of
the dressage shows in the area. I belong to the New England
Dressage Association which is great if you are into Dressage or
    Eventing.

Oh, she's 16hh and is all chestnut. She's 17 years old but acts
like a filly most of the time. I guess it's that mare mentality!
But she is very honest and willing to try at all times.

    Thanks!
    Debbie

    Debbie -

Hi! Started reading your note and you sounded real familiar. Was your
old horse Pauley? I used to board with Keith, had a chestnut mare
named Flash, then a gray named Spider...I don't know if you remember
    me...

Glad to hear Apple is still going strong! Super mare.

I'm up at MKO2 - Image Systems Group.

891.2Hi Amy! Does everyone work for Digital?DEMON::DIROCCOMon Mar 20 1989 15:2133
    Hi Amy,

I saw a note you wrote on Friday and was curious. I mentioned to
Keith if he had seen you and if you worked at DEC...he didn't know
but we figured there couldn't be two Amy Goodnow's in this vicinity.

Yes, I remember both your horses, do you still have Spider Paws?

Apple is doing fine. That mare just keeps on truckin right along.
She certainly has taught me alot about riding. Pauley is up in
Maine at a kid's camp. He loves trails and stuff like that, nothing
too much to ask, that's what he likes!

We were trying to figure out how old Apple is last summer. We were
in the NEDA Quadrille and performed last summer at the Equine Classic
up at Attish Mountain. I met a lady who asked me all sorts of questions
about 'Fair Trial' and we figured out Apple has to be the mare she
was talking about. She has her two brothers and knows someone who
had her other brother. She was the only mare of all that her dam
had. Her dam was a quarter horse and her sire a thoroughbred (who
was a winner). His name was 'Fair Winds' and all of the line had
'Fair' something for a name. She thought Apple would be about 16
or 17 by now, because her next brother was 19 or so.

Keith was there and we were surprised to learn a bit about Apple's
heritage. Her mom was a quarter horse mare named 'Bikini' (how
embarrasing!) who was taken off the auction truck at the last minute.

Anyway, so much about that...if she's 17, 18 or what, she sure acts
like she's 5 or 6 most of the time, and she looks great. Maybe I'll
see you up at Token Whey or some shows this summer!

Hi Debbie,

Glad to hear we have another dressage noter amongst us. We need to get
our dressage note (#10) active again.

I too rode in a NEDA quadrille last year as part of a Children's Hospital
benefit at Hamilton Equestrian Center. I knew about the Attitash one,
but didn't see it. Did Renata Lansburg direct that quadrille?

What are your show plans for the year? We should watch for each other.
I'll be competing at all my favorites - NEDA, Doornhof, Huntington,
Monadnock, GMHA, and possibly Devon and Knoll farm this year. I'm
going to be showing mostly youngsters in Training Level tests. One
of mine will start at first level this year.

Hope to meet you at the shows...

Melinda
