751.0. "Memories" by 3D::PIERCE () Thu Oct 13 1988 16:18
I lost my horse 3 years ago and I just cant seem to replace her,
I guess she is just unreplacable. I do enjoy reading this NOTE
very much and it is making me want another horse..So I thought I'd
share one of my most memorable moments:
One cold day I took my fuzzy horse/pony (14.2hands) to a indoor
show in Harvard Mass. I felt very out of place, everyone else had
blanket-cuts and beautiful riding ataire (sp)..and classie trailers
(I think you can get the idea)..
Well the judges would'nt even look at me let alone place me,,UNTIL..
We entered the trail class,,and as I was looking at the trail sheet
I noticed we had to side-pass over a bale of hay,,SIDE-PASS, what
is SIDE-PASS,,I did'nt know at the time, and I asure you nither
did my horse..So I wathced other riders and I got the idea,,WELL..
None of the horses would SIDE-PASS,,then it was up to me..well we
did all the corse,,then came the SIDE-PASS,,and beleive it or not
my horse (PRINCESS) SIDE-PASSED across the hay and we won 1ST place!!
and for years later of trying everyday, she would never do it again..
she really saved face for me,,and I will always be greatful for
that and I will never forget her,,she was somthing special..
Thank you for leting me share that with you

751.1 | HURRAH For the Underdog! | CSMADM::SILVA | I finally got a PONY of my OWNY | Thu Oct 13 1988 16:39 | 14 |
| >I felt very out of place,...<
Yes, I get the picture. And I also get the picture of what everyone
else was probably looking (down) upon as the underdog.
HURRAH !!! For YOU and Princess. It sure wouldn't have bothered
me if she couldn't ever perform that step again. She was obviously
very special. Maybe she can't be specificly replaced...but having
another horse to love may fill a void in your heart.
Thanks for sharing that!

| I love that story. Doesn't it make you feel great!!!! Just reading
it made me feel that way.
It reminds me of the time my daughter, who was 5 at the time, brought
her little shetland into the pony conformation class (I have a mental
block as to what the class was "formally" called) but anyway the show
was at the 1776 Show in Weston, MA. Erin went in and stood beside
Goliath (there was an older girl- about 9 years old - helping her show
Goliath,) and there were over 25 entries in the class. Anyway, one
haughty and quite obnoxious woman who was standing beside me commented
that "The kids are cute but that little pony won't get anything
because he is a Shetland."
So I asked her to explain and she went on saying that there were some
class ponies in there and well a ** shetland *** just WASN'T in their
class. Well Goliath took SECOND place, and the woman almost dropped her
teeth. I LOVED it.

I know what you mean, I showd at the 1774 in westford and I think
I had the same lady tell me the same thing, I was 18 and Princess
was 14.2 and if I showed in the PONIE classes with the 5-10 year
olds I felt as if it was unfair to them, so I showed in my own age
braket but everyone eles had 16.2 Thourbread's,,and the judges did'nt
like to place me,,but they had too,,if you know what I mean..
I'm gald you enjoyed the story
Meny Thanks,
Louisa
