    Does anyone out there know of a quality english stable in the NYC
    area?  All I've been able to find are horses that don't even flinch
    when an ambulance goes screaming by two feet away.

	Along the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn there is the Jamaica Bay riding Academy. The horses are not that bad. Most of the trails are along the beach.

	I"ll be in NYC at the end of this month for the National Horse Show. Does anyone know tack stores in NYC, Northern NJ, or on Long Island? Also, has anyone visited the USET center in Gladstone, NJ? Thanks, --Laura

	Miller's and Kauffman's are both in NYC. They're on the east side, I think around 23'rd street and 3'rd ave? Check the phone book, or call when you get there and ask for directions. They're a block apart, with Kauffmans being further east. They're both on the north side of the street. The subway stop is only a couple of blocks away. My mom sent me an article a year oor two back that said Kauffmans was in an old historic landmark building. It used to be a stable, or some such. They were trying to preserve the building, other folks wanted to tear it down and build a new high-rise. I've been to the Essex 3-Day (to groom) twice. They hold the event at Gladstone. What a gorgeous place. The barn is really pretty - an old carriage horse barn, so HUGE stalls, tile floors, brass balls on posts, etc. kathy
