There are cross country jumps set up in the Carlisle State Forest.
It is only about 20-30 minutes from Groton. They usually have 3
day events there during the year - but there are some nice fences.
I did not walk all around the forest, and thus did not see all of
the fences, so I don't know if there is a water jump - but there
is certainly water in the form of streams.

| Stow town forest was also the site for a few small pace events,
several permanent fences were erected. I haven't been there in
a few years, but I believe there still there.

203.3 | some more suggestions | TOPDOC::NAJJAR | | Mon Jul 13 1987 13:41 | 8 |
| Linda,
I know it's probably far, but Bradley Palmer has some nice fences
and there are a few at the Groton Fairgrounds in Groton, MA. UNH
lets you school for $10, but it's a long trip for you. Also, ABC
in Ipswich/Boxford has some nice fences: Big Ditch, 2 drops (ramps
on the top of a hill and you land 1/2 way down the hill) also water
and other types.

| Thanks for teh quick replies (and more are welcome!)
Julie, do you by any chance have a phone number and/or directions
to ABC Farm so I might call and ask them about coming over?
UNH is going to be a definite as soon as I can get a weekend to
take the whole day to go up. Do you have to let them know beforehand
that you are coming up or do you just arrive and leave the $10 at
the barn?
Marianne, do you have directions to the Stow State Park and where
do you park the trailer?
I was at Carlisle a few weekends ago and it was great!
Thanks all and PLEASE keep the suggestion coming!

203.5 | call first... | TOPDOC::NAJJAR | | Tue Jul 14 1987 13:28 | 7 |
| Linda,
I think it's best to call UNH to find out if they are using the
course or if it's open. I'll have to look at home or ask around
to get the number for ABC. The only directions I know are from
N.Andover/Boxford, when I find the number you can call and get
directions from them.

203.6 | Shepley Hill? | NFL::KEIRAN | | Tue Jul 14 1987 14:16 | 7 |

Is the cross country course still set up over at Shepley Hill in
Groton? I haven't ridden over there in a few years, but it used
to be a nice course.

203.7 | # for ABC | TOPDOC::NAJJAR | | Wed Jul 15 1987 08:57 | 7 |
| The number I have for ABC (Lockwood Estate, Boxford, MA)
is 352-2354 or Diane Reed 352-6922 (she put the event together last
fall, she may know who to contact).
The cross country course must still be set up at Sheply Hill since
they still hold events there, you might try giving them a call to
see if you can school there.

| I called Shepley the other day and they do NOT allow any schooling
nor do they allow people to ride on their trails. Shepley would
have been perfect for me since I board my horse in Groton.
Julie, thanks for the numbers!
Thanks all,
Linda
