They say the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked (or
something like that) so here goes.....
Does the size of a horse's head grow dramatically (or at all)
after the age of 2 years?.....2 years 4 months to be exact.
The reason for my question is.....I have a 2 year old that I'm starting
to break, I decided to try a bridle on him and yikes! I don't have
anything that comes close to fitting his head is so small. I don't
really want to run out and buy a cob size bridle if his head is
still going to grow since I'm not planning to back him until late
fall or winter.
I know a lot of you out there raise babies...what do you say?

HI JEANNIE
EACH HORSE IS DIFFERENT AS YOU KNOW. I WOULD SAY FROM THE THREE
YEARLINGS THAT I HAVE RAISED AND TRAINED LATELY THAT THEIR HEAD
DID GROW A LITTLE BIT MORE BY THE TIME THEY STOPPED GROWING AT ABOUT
FOUR YEARS OLD OR SO.
WHAT I DID SO THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO SPEND TO MUCH MONEY ON DIFFERENT
BRIDLES WAS TO PURCHASE (I GOT MINE AT STATE LINE TACK SHOP) A WESTERN
NYLON WEB HEADSTALL. THEY ARE STRONG ENOUGH AS NOT TO BREAK AND
FULLY ADJUSTABLE TO ANY SIZE HEAD. I HAVE USED THIS HEADSTALL WITH
MY BOSALS (ADDING A TIE FROM THE BOSAL TO THE THROAT LATCH) WHEN
FIRST BREAKING THE "LITTLE DEVILS" TO BITTING THEM.
I HOPE THAT THIS IS SOME HELP. THE COST WAS ABOUT $7.00 TO $10.00.

Our horses heads do grow a little larger after two but they are
Arabs and normally don't mature until five or six. Even though
they grow after two they still only take a cob size in most cases.
This probably doesn't help much but I would thing that some of the
larger breeds of horses would continue to grow until four anyway.
