Well I here Daniel Christy is good, the others I dont know much
about. Mr Christy will be looking for that real "typy" yearling,
under good hand. I have been to Upper Marlboro for several regionals
and believe me the class your in is an extreemly difficult one to
judge. The Egyptions seen to do real well, Illeene usually wins.
If you want my advice, hire a good handler to take your yearling
in the ring, it might cost you 30, or 40 but it might be worth it
if your yearling is good enough. Figure that sweepstakes class is
worth a couple grand. If Nick Nickerson is around up there give
him a chance. He's a good handler, or even his wife, and the
judges know them as well... Iknow that sounds political but as
much as I hate to say it, thats reality. Good luck, I wish ya
the best.
What kind of yearling do ya'll have? I noticed you like Crabbet!
We started out with some Raffles, Rayseen, and Rissilex blood
ourselves. We got into the Polish and Crabbet Cross alot. We have
sold most of our horses, but we still have a double R mare leased
out.

| I can tell you about a few of the people you asked about. Bob Bell
is one of our locals who also our regional director and announces
most of our shows. While I know him pretty well, I have never seen
him judge a class but I do know his preferances. He is deeply into
National Show Horses, and therefore likes his horses with size and
motion. He has done very well around here picking out the right
horses in his own barn to show in halter.
Patti Felker judged the Nationals last year and did what I thought
was a reasonable job. I look mostly for consistancy in a judge
since you may not like what they pin but you do know what they are
looking for. You just can't figure on an inconsistant judge. I
had picked out the horses I liked and my list was very much like
hers. I like athletic ability, good legs, good body, and a pretty head
about in that order.
I've shown under Don Burt before and thought he was OK. He's not
someone I'd drive a distance just to show under, but I thought he
was fair and consistant.
Good luck at Region 15!
Bob

| I can't remember much about Francine so she must not have been too
bad or overly great.
Dan Christy judged the VAHA show the last weekend May at Culpeper
during 1984. I liked him. He liked halter horses with type (Imperial
did very well--but they had by far and away the best halter horses).
He seemed to be very fair in performance.
Patti Felker judged in Iowa last year. She was VERY well received.
Everyone liked her. She was WONDERFUL with the equitation kids.
I don't know much about her halter judging but I suspect she wouldn't
be too political.
I like showing to Don Burt. I have always done well showing to
him as an amateur in performance. Some people like his halter judging
and some don't. I can usually understand what he is doing when
I sit and watch class after class. I don't know if he is likely
to notice halter handlers or not (now that the sweepstakes have
become just a big deal).
I have shown to Robert Bell but don't remember anything outstanding
either way.

RE .1 David, my yearling is chestnut with four white socks and
a well-proportioned blaze. She is by Cedarsamir (Cedarage X KA
Sabrina by Tsatyr) out of Indian Symphony (*RAS Indian Silver X
Raffsena). She is exceptionally graceful. Her athletic ability,
which is considerable, could lead to a career in racing -- she's
very fast!!!! Her sire is from the Cedardell line of horses, hence
her name -- Cedars Del Taliah. Incidentally, a friend of mine,
who is also an excellent trainer offered to show Taliah. He is
Bill Jenkins from Jenkins Arabian Stud in Petersburg, VA. He had
a gorgeous gelding, VA Halima Bey (sp), at the Buckeye; placed well
on the judges' cards, as I recall.
My mares are mostly Raffles/Skowronek. Many of them have come from
Silver Run Arabians in Taneytown, MD, owned by Linda Smith.
Consequently, many of them are actually related -- which makes foal
predictions happier! I've bred two of the mares to Linda's stallion,
Gai Parzada (Gai Parada X Comar Azramira) and got a colt, ZADAS
MAGIC MUSIC, who is qualified for this year's Regionals but will
be shown only in the "A" show, out of Indian Symphony; another colt,
born in Feb 87, out of Silver Run Sahsha. Both are very nice.
I hear that 81 fillies are registered for the Region 15 Sweepstakes
class. Probably about 40 will show up??!!
If any of you are going to attend, Magic and Taliah will be stalled
with Acquibob Arabians of Portsmouth, VA, Bob Hill owner. John
Detlie, their trainer, is going to show Magic on Saturday, July
3; I'm going to show Taliah in the "A" filly class that morning.
My daughter or I will show Magic in the amateur class Sat. afternoon.
The sweeps are at 7 p.m. July 4. Please stop by!!!

| Merrie...
Bob Bell stands a stallion named Cederdel Amal.
Also I would love to hear more about the Tsatyr Daughter. Is she
still around? What is the maternal side?
Presently we have a 25 year old Tsatyr Daughter who just presented
us with a filly. Love the line and would like to have more like
her.
GOOD LUCK AT THE SHOW

| Unfortunately, the Tsatyr daughter,KA Sabrina, died of colic a year
or two ago. She was a bautiful gray that went English pleasure;
a great mover, according to her owner, Kathleen Ojala. The mare
had a reaction to Prostaglandin -- does it go bad if it is not used
right away, or can it be stored for a reasonable period in a frig?
I can't recall Sabrina's dam. I'll lt you know.
