1016.0. "to destroy or not [please help]!!" by ASGMKA::MATTHEW () Fri Jun 13 1986 15:40
Just this morning, my father called me at work to tell me my best
friend has to put down her horse! The horse is at the NH school
in Rochester. They have taken all kinds of tests and still dont
know what is wrong with her, they suggested that they put her down
today. the horse has lost all ability to move the left side, similar
to a stoke. thay can only guess that she got a virus, it went to
the brain and then down the spine. i suggested she donate the horse
to tufts vet school, if she is helped she is then liable for the
vet bills. However I am from denver and there is a school up in
Fort collins but I dont remember the name, they are supposed to
the specialists out west. can anyone help me before we put down
this 3yr pal filly? her and i hold the national phba championships
and also amateur team. any and all suggestions will help us make
our decision for this filly. please help me out as to i dont know
what to suggest to her next! thank-you
sincerely,
wendy-juanita matthews.

| I think you want the Vet school at Colorado State University in
Fort Collins. Good luck.

| For what it's worth, the clinic in Rochester was highly
recommended by everyone I spoke with. I also might add
that the info given previously about Tufts agrees with
what I know from stories there; while it may help to get
the horse somewhere else for more opinions, I do know
someone whose colt was over-anesthetized at Tufts. Tufts
was not pleasant about admitting it was their mistake.
I hope you and your friend find a kind solution in time.
