2172.0. "MOP loses Function attributes" by CHEFS::ELLERBY_J () Wed May 07 1997 11:08
Any suggestions on the following problem I keep hitting ?
I have installed V3.2B with just a dnsclerk patch on a set of Alpha
1000A, each system is running Digital UNIX V3.2G.
I configure mop via decnetsetup. I then configure a number of DECnis
MOP clients via the decnis host configurator. However, after some
variable period of operation and one or two ncl> load mop client
<client> commands I lose my attributes associated with the default mop
circuit, circuit-1.
i.e. Normally it is enabled with
Functions = { Loop Requestor,
Console_requestor,
Load Requestor,
Load Server,
Dump Server,
Test Requestor,
Query Requestor
}
However, some time later after no specific sequence of events, I lose
half of the functions thus leading to the following error:
ncl> load mop client <client>
FAILED IN DIRECTIVE: Load
DUE TO: Error specific to this entity's class
REASON: Data Link Error
Description: An error was reported by the Data Link Layer
= Wrong State
Functions = {
Load Server,
Dump Server
}
If I shutdown MOP via mopsetup and restart it, all is well again and I
have a full set of attributes.
Any ideas why it keeps going into this state ?
Thanks,
Jed

| This doesn't ring any bells. You might try the latest mop
patch, from netrix::patches/OSF/V3.2B/dnamopd.Z
(Note netrix is now 4.750, not 12.80)
