2143.0. "dlogin, user disconnect" by MLNCSC::DOMANESCHI () Thu Mar 13 1997 10:17
Hello,
my customer on his lan has a DEC-UNIX system V4.0 and DECnet/OSI V4.0-0
and three VAX system with OpenVMS 5.5-2 and DECnet Phase IV, one of these
is a routing IV router.
(vax1 1.7)-----(vax2 1.5)-----(vax3 1.11)----(unix 1.6)
(end node) (end node) (l1 router) (DEC-osi )
the problem is:
From unix he can't do to dlogin or dls to vax1, vax2, he has the
message: DLOGIN, USER DISCONNECT.
From unix he can do a dlogin or dls to vax3.
All vax's are able to do a set host to other vax's and at the DEC-unix.
If, for example from vax1 do a set host to unix system then a dlogin
from unix to vax1 succeed.
On unix system, with the ncl command sho routing circuit circuit-1 adjacen
i see the vax3 that is the Phase IV router.
Any advice for this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Paolo

Is the unix system running in default segregated mode?
Are the cache entries of destination vax1 or vax2 on unix system
different when unix system is the initiator or not the initiator?
I am not familiar with messages on unix system. If "USER DISCONNECT"
message means remote side disconnected the connection for some
reason then I would guess may be there is some problem between the
two end systems' transport layer. But I can't explain why it only
exists one sided. A sniffer will certainly help.

Lee,
thank you for the reply,
the routing mode is segregated and i have the same problem when i
try with dlogin 1031 or dlogin 1030.
