2140.0. "No event stream from DECNIS with C2 security ??" by UMEJNK::JOHANSSON (Lars Johansson) Mon Mar 10 1997 10:11

Hi!

I have a customer who has problems with inbound streams from decnis, wanrouters.

They try to set up an outbound stream from a decnis and a wanrouter but the
inbound stream to the unix host is never connected.

I tried to set up an event stream from a decnis to a unix host internaly
without any problems.

When doing a sho session control port * all we can see that the decnis tries
to set up connection but it goes away directly.

It looks like the event dispatcher never "hooks" to the incomming request.

They belives that this started after they installed UNIX 4.0 and Dnu_osi 4.0
with enhanched C2 security.

Nothing is logged in any log files.

One diffrence from my internal testing is that the sink address in the
outbound stream is DNA_SessionControlV3 but the my customer has
DNA_SessionControlV2.

Anyone has any ideeas what to look for ? can c2 security cause this problem.??

regards
Lars Johansson

    Hi,

The first thing is to check the syslog files for anything from dnaevld,
including from the time it was first started (there could have been
    problems creating the listening socket).

If there's nothing there you can get a trace of evl activity by
creating an empty file, "/var/tmp/dnaevld.trace" and restarting
evl. This will causer evl to trace to /var/tmp/dnaevld.trace.PID,
where PID is the process id of the new evl.

Thanks for the reply, I have asked the to enable trace.
They have already checked all the log files but couldn't find anything.

I'll post the result here.

Hi!
Sorry for the delay, I finaly got a trace file from my customer.
There is no text in it (is that correct??).

The syslog files doesn't contain any info about why the stream isn't connected.

The trace file is available at stkhlm::STKHLM::EIS2:[LARS.DNAEVLD]DNAEVLD.TRACE;1
