| We used to license an ASN.1 compiler from another company as resale in the OSI
Application Developers Toolkit. The toolkit has been retired, but your customer
can still purchase the compiler directly from the company that we used to
purchase it from:

The OSI Application Developer's Toolkit is being retired as a
standalone product. The FTAM, ACSE, and ROSE APIs have been integrated
into DECnet/OSI and now are available under the Extended Function
License for DECnet/OSI V6.2 (or later) for OpenVMS and DECnet/OSI V3.2 for
Digital UNIX.
The OSI TP component of the Toolkit was retired on 1 July
1995. Support for OSI TP will end on 15 December 1995.
The ASN.1 Compiler from Open Systems Solutions (OSS) will cease
shipping from Digital as of 15 December. Existing OSS ASN.1 users are
advised to contact OSS directly for compiler upgrade and support
information.
Open Systems Solutions, Inc. was founded in 1988 as a privately held
company. They provide consulting services and a GDMO Toolkit (Guidelines for
the Definition of Managed Objects) in addition to the ASN.1 Tools. Their
tools are available on a wide range of platforms including Digital's VAX
systems and Alpha AXP systems.
OSS specializes in development and consulting related to OSI ASN.1
standards. Their implementation of the ASN.1 compiler is fully conformant to
ISO 8824 and 8825. To ensure conformance, OSS is also directly involved in
the standards definition process itself via the ANSI X3T2 Committee, U.S.
Delegate to ISO, ISO ASN.1 Editor and ANSI PER Project Editor.
OSS is located in Princeton, New Jersey. For further information on
licensing the ASN.1 compiler, contact Conrad Sigona at (609)987-9073.
The OSI Application Developer's Toolkit will not be orderable after 15
December 1995. Support for FTAM, ACSE, and ROSE will continue as part
of the DECnet/OSI product support. Support for existing versions of
the OSI Application Developer's Toolkit will end on 1 June 1996.
Upgrade Information:
The replacement product for the OSI Application Developer's Toolkit is
DECnet/OSI under the Extended Function license. OpenVMS Systems
currently licensed as End Systems can be upgraded to Extended Function
through the purchase of the End System to Extended Function Upgrade
License.
