2126.0. "strange "ncl show implementation" output" by TAEC::PRAUD () Mon Feb 10 1997 04:04

Hello,

A customer has two workstations on which DECnet/OSI has been installed with
a priori the same configuration :

The first one :

DNABASE321 installed DECnet/OSI Base Components (DECnet/OSI Standard
Run-time Environment)
DNABASE322 installed DECnet/OSI Base Components ECO 1 (DECnet/OSI Sta
ndard Run-time Environment)
DNADLI321 installed DECnet/OSI Datalink Components (DECnet/OSI Stand
ard Run-time Environment)
DNAMAN321 installed DECnet/OSI Reference Pages (Optional DECnet/OSI
Components)
DNANETMAN321 installed DECnet/OSI Network Management (DECnet/OSI Standa
rd Run-time Environment)
DNANETMAN322 installed DECnet/OSI Network Management ECO 1 (DECnet/OSI
Standard Run-time Environment)
DNATFRDNS32A5 installed DECnet/OSI DECdns Components for TeMIP ECO 5

The "ncl show impl" of the second one is incomplete. I am afraid that there
is something wrong in the DECnet configuration.

Nonetheless, DECnet/OSI seems to work correctly. The only difference I found
is that the second one has not the "Reference Pages" DECnet subset.

Any helps is welcome.

Best regards,
Charles.

Hello Jeff,

Thanks for your quick reply.

It seems that a problem happenned during the DECnet installation. The file
date matches with the installation date.

Do you have any ideas about the reason?

Which remedial do you propose?

Regards,
Charles.

Did decnetsetup not run correctly? Maybe your running kernel
at the time did not match /vmunix? Maybe you were out of disk
space on that filesystem at the time? Your guess is as good
	as mine :-)

> Which remedial do you propose?

Try re-running decnetsetup. Or copy the file from another
system and hand-edit if there are version differences ...

Hello Jeff,

Thanks for your replies. I will ask to this customer to re-run decnetsetup.

I don't understand what "the running kernel did not match /vmunix" means.

Do you think that a previous vmunix executable has been copied in / without
a reboot of the system ?

Thanks again for your help.

Regards,
Charles.
