Hi, I have a customer running DECps 2.2-5 and VMS 6.2 who uses the following command: $ ADVISE PERFORMANCE GRAPH/FORM=REGIS=X_POINTS=480/OUT=USERS.REGIS/STACK - $_ /STACK/TYPE=CUSTOM=SYSTEM_METRICS=NUMBER_OF_USERS/BEGIN=/END= However, the graph that the customer gets for the number of users does not tally with SHOW USERS. For example, over an hour period the DECps graph reports the maximum number of users as 75 whereas a batch job with SHOW USERS gives 150 users for the same period! If someone can offer an explanation for this discrepancy I'd appreciate it! Henry Barker (UK CSC)

Remember that this item is derived from the unique usernames for all processes that are not batch, detached, network, or subprocesses, on the local node over a 2 minute interval. SHOW USER only looks at what is instantaneously logged onto a system. PSPA didn't have *anything* to even get close to what SHOW USER reported until V2.2. So while this number may be *off* by a little due to the time periods looked at it is by far better than anything that was perviously available. Jilly |
