I want to see 20+ mph average speeds while you're at it. Keep it under 6
hours/day in the saddle...

3205.8I'm ready...TOPTEN::PLEVAtwice NJ NORBA State Champion-masterWed May 07 1997 13:386
I've got 2759 miles in YTD. Of which 1300 are on a mtn bike/trails.
Brought out the road bike April 2. I've been doing long hill rides
every weekend (80-100 miles) and 40-60 miles on weekdays, weather
permitting/co-operating. I feel I'm ready. My goal for the Assault is
    a time under 7 hours...

Wow, you are 700 miles ahead of me. Unless I count my roller miles, in which
case we are about even.

See http://asaab.zko.dec.com/~lucia/training/milesapr.jpg for my mileage by
month (road miles only) YTD (well, through April 30)

I got rollers this xmas, used them 3 times. I much prefer to be in the
woods with a light during the cold months. On the occassions I used
them it was the second day of rainy periods.

I'm heading out bright and early tomorrow for Virginia and Skyline
Drive. I'll post my results when I get back on the 19th.

I checked the Web site for the Mt. Mitchell ride but it was not clear
how much it costs to enter. It says $50 rider fee but later says
"other fees". How much is it?
Also it says its limited to 900 riders. Is it difficult to get into?
    How early should one apply?
Sounds like a great ride ... starting my planning for next year :-)

    Thanks,
    -Larry
