| The other night whilst i wuz tooling around, I came upon a stranded car
driver/person. (since i carry a good tool kit, and can fix just about
anything on my bike, i like to gloat over inadequately prepared car
driver/people). The driver was a youngish lady of 30(+-3yrs) so
needless to say I was eager to help. I approached the car, sizing up
the situation. The lady emerged from the car with a 5 gallon jerry can,
and said "Can you find a gas station and fill this up for me please?"
I told her that I would gladly escort her to the gas station and back
for safety sake, but carry the can yourself, it's too heavy for me on
my bike.
Well, she lost it, she said "who the hell do I think I am--your just
trying to make time with me" and a few other things as I rode on down
the road. Geeze, what did I do wrong? I could have told her that I
discourage the use of cars for many reasons, that secretly I was
laughing at her predicament, that I thought she was about 15 lbs over
weight and could use the damn walk--but no, I stayed cool and offered
what help I thought was reasonable.
This just sorta made me go hmmm.
