3078.0. "NEBC Wednesday Night Time Trial in North Andover" by UCXAXP::ZIELONKO () Fri May 03 1996 13:43

In case anyone is interested I just got this notice off the net. I don't know
the course but it sounds like they are taking a left turn off a main road at
rush hour. IMHO, that sounds like it could be a problem.

Field: Limited to the first 70 riders to sign in
Parking: Park at Mascomonet Regional School
Registration: Also at Masco

Directions:

From South: Take Rt 95 north (stay on 95 when it splits with 128) to
exit 51. Masco is immediately on the right.

From North: Take Rt. 95 south to exit 51. At end of ramp, take a
left and cross back over 95. Masco is immediately on the right.

This will leave you approximately 3.5 miles to the start line; ie a
good warmup. From Masco, cross back over 95, and make your first right
onto Middleton Rd. Follow this to the first stop sign, at the
intersection with Main St. This is the start/finish area.

Course is not marked or marshalled - we recommend riding it before
being timed to avoid any mistakes or distractions.
ANSI-approved helmet required, and shirst must have at least short
sleeves (no sleeveless shirts) per USCF rules.
Please consider safety, traffic laws and finish time, in that order of
precedence.
Shout out your number to the officials as you pass the finish
line. Continue to the stop sign - stop, then continue straight. This
is Middleton Rd, and will take you back to Masco the way you came.

Held Under USCF Race Permit (# pending)

 Course (in leiu of map):
   - Start at Corner of Middleton & Main in Boxford (about a 3.5 mile ride
from Masco), heading towards North Andover.
   - Left onto Lawrence Rd at about Mile 1 (cyclists have right of
way, but a hand signal indicating the left would be appreciated)
   - Becomes Salem St after a while in North Andover
   - After a long but gradual uphill, Salem makes a hard left, while
we turn right onto Appleton, which quickly becomes Dale St.
   - Past Smolack's Farm Stand.
   - Becomes Ipswich Rd in Boxford. Watch the potholes at about mile
     7.5 and 9.75
   - At about mile 11, there's a pond on the right. The next
intersection, (with white crossroads signpost), turn right onto
     Georgetown Rd.
   - Just before Boxford Center, (mile 12.9 or so), turn right onto
Middleton Rd. .1-.2 miles to finish.
