well, I asked my wife if she had any desire to try out her new bike
today and not surprisingly she said "NO!".

I told her a bit about chip. It was good to see this. :)

Hey, I'm with you, Chip!

I need to vent, but seeing your entry helped. We're supposed to get some
more of this white crap tomorrow night, too!

I wonder how things are in Sunny, CA? Record warmth is the rumor.

The 1st year I lived in Colorado Springs (moving from the hot humid
Southeast), I could not believe how long it took for spring to arrive -
    it never really does !

Most years we get snow in early May. Even June can be too cool for summer.
When out-of-state friends ask us when summer arrives, we tell them that
summer lasts 1 day, sometime in August, maybe. ;)

It's the schizophrenic nature of weather that seems to play with your
    mind. Patience pilgrims...

Please, Buddy, we keep that sort of thing a secret, you know.

Why, we wouldn't want any more Ti-nuts running loose around
here. Plenty of those already.

(Excuse me, dear, could you pass me the sunscreen).

You bringing the Ti machine on the plane or shipping it out?
Just curious, cause I've shipped mine out with mixed results.

well, SPRING has finally arrived in minnesota. got my first ride of the
season in. unlike you guys, i prefer not to ride when i can see my
    breath. soi waited.

last night was just beautiful along the mighty mississippi. did a quick
10 miles with a couple of stops for computer and "human bike interface"
adjustments. 11mph average, not bad for me for the 1st ride.

its gonna hit 60 today/tomorrow and all the snow should be gone soon!!
its days like yesterday/today that i'm glad i don't live in NE anymore!

To offset some of this dreary talk, I must relate my experience. During this
past Sunday night/Monday morning, it snowed a few inches around here (MA/NH).
So I didn't ride that day. Bummer.

By yesterday (Tuesday), the roads were clear and mostly even dry. So I had a
nice lunchtime ride. Nice.

Now last night and today it's snowing again, so I didn't ride today. Bummer.

The forecast for tomorrow and Friday is for warm weather (65 on Friday), so the
roads will very soon be clear and mostly dry. Nice. (I'm not sure if tomorrow
will be rideable, but I'll bring my bike into work in case it is. And I'm sure
that Friday will be great, and I hope to commute to work then.)

So for this terribly-unfair-and-awfully-snowy week, there will be two or three
days of quite rideable conditions (not counting weekends, when I rarely get to
ride in any case). Does that seem like something worth despairing over? Heck,
summer often has plenty of weeks where there is no more riding than that
(assuming one doesn't ride in the rain).

Get on the bike and ride!

Well. I live in Gardner which is smack dab in the snow belt. It was
still snowing when I left work this morning. I got to northern Townsend
and the roads were dry (about a 25 minute ride).

I'm afraid it will be a while before the road conditions in my area
will return to the pre-April dumping.

Sorry to hear it, Chip! It stopped snowing in the Nashua/Westford area last
evening. This morning there was almost no snow on the roads (other than in the
gutters and some shoulders) and so I rode in to work on my bike.

How long is "a while?" I would guess that in two or three days tops the roads
in your area will have no snow on them. Maybe even one day, if Friday does get
in the 50s or 60s. Maybe even by tonight. Be optimistic! Why let it get you
down unnecessarily?

"unnecessarily" you say? My good man, you have a great deal more
fortitude than I. The rodas aren't bad, by themselves. It's the
    bankings, the run-off, more sand...

Based in L.A.

Snow ???????

I think that's the stuff on top of the mountains seen in
the distance (assuming air is clear enough).

Temp currently 75, no clouds, slightly breezy, probably
won't ride today, will wait for the wind to calm down..

'High Wind Warnings' today in Colorado Springs. Gusts clocked over 60
mph are flattening fences, dumping trash cans, sand blasting cars,
shaking houses, flipping picnic tables and kiddie toys, ripping off
roof shingles, ... You get the idea.

That tailwind had me bicycling past cars like they were standing still.
While braking, the force of the wind on my back was incredible. The
crosswind had me anticipating the next gust by keeping the bike in a
constant lean. The ride home will be interesting.

    Springtime riding in the Rockies...

Well, I went on my first FCC club ride with the Gamache guys and gals
this past Sunday. I felt like a million dollars for the first 40 miles.

I have to admit I was absolutely suffering the last 13. Too much, too
hard, too soon. It was embarrassing (personally) that I was in such
pain. Miles, miles, miles to go before I can hammer out 50 miles.

Of course, being off my bike for the last two weeks didn't help a lot
    either.

My legs were chopped yesterday so bad (all day). Funny thing, I spun
out a 22 miler yesterday (to loosen them up). About 15 minutes into the
    ride they felt great.

The Rte. 140 TT is supposed to start tonight (I think). I think I'll
    pass...
