Any opinions or experiences? What brands are good, what aren't?

I see that Performance is offering a Vetta model for $49. It says
something about a 'visual out of range alarm'. I take it that it means
you have to look at the thing to see if you are out of your target
range rather than it beeping/sqawking at you. Does the cheapest Polar
that offers an out of range alarm beep or must you look at it?

Does anybody know anything about the Vetta monitors?

    Thanks,

    Bob

The older vetta model that was also a cyclocomputer had the problem
of not updating the rate fast enough from what I recall.

Polar is the standard bearer in this field, although $49 is certainly
worth a chance unless you are a heart patient.

Polar is good. I like my Accurex II. I think it's helped me train better.
Mostly it helps me go slow on the recovery days, something which is not easy to
do!

    Shawn,

I've had my Polar "Pacer" for two years.Probaly one of the best tools
to suplement your work out going. You can can get realy involved in the
different theories in heart rate training or just use it as a heart
tachometer.I've found,in the limitted time I have to ride it is the
best way to gauge my work outs/improvement.The only thing is that the
battery crapped out and they say that you are to return it to Polar,
but I was able to replace it myself, couldn't figure why else they
would give the battery type in the booklet that came with it.
