| Thanks Bob. I figured it was time to pull out the 54 chainring
and give it a shot. I can honestly say I had very little left
when I crossed the line.
It ended up being 16 seconds better than my best ride this year
(the previous one) and 14 seconds better than my PB. My goal is
get into the 27:something club. If I don't this year I can't
complain. There always next year and even at 43 I still get a
little stronger every year, for now :-).

| Reading .0 and these times - are some of you averaging 26 mph for 12 hilly
miles? (that would be 27:41, right?). I know how hard I work to average
anything over 19. Am I reading this right?
Is this on bikes especially configured for time trials? If so, how are those
set up?

| You're right Jack. I don't have the official results for last
night yet, but I did a 28:00 for the course. That registered
an average speed (on my cateye) at 25.7mph. The odometer was
right on at 12.0 miles.
Unless you're Big Mig (or some other alien monster) you have to
run some kind of aero equipment. Some of the folks have bikes
specifically for TT'ing, others just run aero bars, some have
aero wheels, and a bunch of combinations including a endless
variety of gearing.
The most effective piece of equipment are the bars. We figure bars
alone get you a minute on the course.

| Actually Jack, you should use the TT as a routine to do fast TT's
and fast rides in general.
Almost every training program incorporates TT's weekly. TT's are
great for building strength and your A/T.
I would strongly recommend getting involved in TT'ing if you're looking
to improve any riding dimension. You really learn a great deal about
your strengths and weaknesses which further assists in getting a more
rounded plan together.
Organized TT's are also better because you're more likely to push
harder and go faster. You also have a wealth of free information
hanging around at them...

| Thanks... Conditions were perfect - hot - humid - dead air. We only
get 1 or 2 nights like that a year. Attendance was very light as well
(23 riders). The week before there were 50.
I think that was my last serious effort of the year for that TT...
Mt Washington is coming up! Now there's some real pain. But, it's only
one hill! :-)

| ya Ti cranks are crankin' about $450 these days! i asked him what he
was eye-balling, but got no response and forget to ask him last night
at the TT.
i think i'm going to get the new C Record crank for Christmas and just
stay away from the exotica.
i understand that high concentrations of Ti in a confined space can
cause a tear in our dimension :-)

| Rick, wasn't it e-v-e-r windy! It's pretty routine. We'll get 1-3
calm nights a year (at the most). It's always windy there for some
reason.
On a night like that you can deduct a minute + from your time because
it was exceptionally bad. It been worse too, if you can believe that!

| We held our annual TT banquet last night at Too Shea's in Westminster,
Ma. Great chow and the Sam Adams Octoberfest was pretty good too! :-)
There were a variety of categories that awards were presented for in
the form of gift certificates at Gamache's to award certificates.
A total of 95 riders participated this season. That would mean
somewhere in the vacinity of 400+ individual rides and no one
got hurt!
