2933.0. "new commute" by POLAR::WILSONC () Mon Apr 10 1995 05:49
I moved last week and yesterday was the first day on my new
commute to work. I was living a mere 2.5 miles from work and now I live
18 miles away. I have completed one entire round trip and can say that
I am going to enjoy this coming season. I was able to ride year round
when the distance was so small but now the added distance will force me
to be a three season commuter. I will continue to ride in the winter
but only during non-rush hour hours and for limited distances. My new
ride consists of about five miles of river shoreline and three nice big
hills, (eastern Ontario big hills that is, which is pretty puny), two
big parks, some four lane roads, some two lane and a bike path, and of
course the dreaded Digital parking lot. I left work yesterday morning
at seven o'clock (Sunday morning) and counted 32 cars passing me from
behind! Thats less than two per mile and I was on the road all the way
home. This morning when I leave it will be Monday morning and after a
twelve hour shift I dont think I should battle the bleary hoards. I'll
just relax breathe in the morning air and rid myself of all thoughts
about work. Like I always say, " I only go to work because I get to
ride my bike".
See you next weekend,
chris
