2898.0. "Do flite saddles wear out too fast?" by SWAM2::BURDICK_JI () Fri Jan 06 1995 11:37

After 10 years, my trusty Turbo saddle is about to bite the dust.
After reading reviews and comments in the notes files, I am considering
3 saddles - a Turbomatic, Flite, and Flite Max (the new suspended,
more padded Flite). I'm leaning toward the Flite Max.
When I'm being good, I ride 100-150 miles per week.

My concern is I have heard rumors that the Flite and Max wear very
quickly in the cutout area up by the nose. My legs rub the saddle
quite a bit as it is, so I'd hate to wear a saddle out in a year.

Any experience with this? Any comment? Thanks.

Hi,

That was certainly the case with mine. It lasted about 12 months
and began showing signs of wear after only 1 month.

Hope this helps

I'm going on my third year with one I had on my Merlin 1 season
and moved it to my MTB 2 seasons (total 3). My guess is it's got
6k miles and it's still going. No wear thru...

I must have a tough butt....I seem to wear them out quickly. On my
MTB, they wear out even faster.

I like the fit however, so I put up with the short life span.

    You're getting a mixed response. I won't help. Two years later I
still love the Flite. Only slightly less comfortable than the Sella
San Marco Rolls at half the weight.
