2868.0. "Ergo For Suntour?" by UPROAR::WENMANJ (John Wenman) Fri Oct 21 1994 04:34
I'm replicating this to maximise my chances of a solution before leaving
Digital. Hope you guys can help.

Somewhat ironic I should find this conference a couple of weeks before I leave
Digital ...
Anyway, I have a Raleigh Dynatech 625Ti with Suntour SL 16 speed. (It's a road
bike. A '93 model sold off at reduced price this summer - you must have seen
the adverts in Cycling). Now that it's all of 3 months old, I'd like to
upgrade it with Ergo-type levers. Does anyone know of this being done
successfully, and the details?
The guy in the shop stated categorically that:
It won't work with Shimano STI levers,
It will work with Campag levers. Stratos would be OK but Veloce would
be better (i assume he's in favour of Veloce from a quality and feel point of
view rather than from any difference in compatibility).
Of course, I'd prefer to be able to buy cheap Veloce levers by mail order than
pay full price at the shop and since, in any case, I bought the bike 100 miles
from home, even taking it back to complain/get adjustments would be a pain if I
did get them to do it.
TIA
John
