What is the pledge minimum this year?

| The minimum is $800 plus your $100 registration fee. Sad to see the
matching gifts go away. Sounds like the matching gifts people were
pretty busy this week processing all of our forms before today's
deadline.

I've done lots of rides, but never this one. I just can't believe
what the minimum pledge is... plus a $100 registration. I've
always raised over $700 in the rides I've participated in, but the
minimum is usually $150, with a $10 registration. Are their costs
really that much more? Or are they trying to keep attendance
down?

I think a little of both. Each the PMC attracks over 1300 riders.
They always say there limits is 1500 and they try to get that many.
I've seen the numbers reach 1400+.
As for the cost. I think they strive to turn over as much $$$ to
the Jimmy Fund as possible. Over 90% annually (92% last year I think).
I know a lot of people 'complain' about the minimum, but the bottom
line is the PMC is the "worlds most successful bicycling fundraiser."

| I need some info about the PMC. I call the 800 # and just get a
recording. Maybe someone can help me out here. I'm a registered 1st
time rider btw.
I've seen something about thank you cards? Do we send them out to our
sponsors or does the PMC?
I'd like to get a map of the route because I have friends all over the
place who've been asking me where they can watch from and meet me
somewhere along the route. (Even if you know where we go thru Milford,
Franklin, & Mansfield would be helpful).
That's it (I think),

Kelly, the 1-800-WE-CYCLE no. might be for outside Mass. try 1-617-254-5820
or 1-617-695-9624.
I am not completely sure if you have to request the thank you cards or if they
are sent 'automatically.' I prefer to send a 'personal' thank you letter
detailing the PMC weekend.
A good 'central' location to have someone meet you on the route to the towns you
mentioned might be in Franklin at the waterstop. It is at the VFW on Pond St.
There is a Elk's Club across the street with a parking lot they could park in.
In the past, the PMC 'crew' has put up orange & black arrow to mark the route.
They have gone out teh weekend before and put some of them up. If you go out
Sun afternoon you might see them. (this is not a promise. ;-) )

| re: .5...
Kelly,
The PMC last year sent thank you letters to each sponsor who gave $50 or more.
These were individual letters of thanks. I believe they are doing that again
this year.
The thank you cards this year are like a blank greeting card, with the
CURE FOR CANCER logo on the front, in aqua, yellow lettering I think.
You can call and ask for a specific number, and they'll send them to you.
You write a message inside (they are blank)...
PMC sent _one_ sample in my repeat-rider pack along
with the computerized list of my last year's sponsors. I'd guess, if you didn't
get one when you registered, that maybe they just went out in repeat rider packets.
Anyway, give them a call and ask for the number you need. They mail them out
within 24 hours. I'm using them to handwrite notes to faraway sponsors to ask
if they'll pledge again. Others use them just for thank yous...
Hope that clarifies.
