After totalling my highly valued white Cannondale R400 in an
unfortunate encounter with a car a month ago this Friday, I am now
feeling (much) better and am looking to find my next bike.
The 'crash' bike actually looks pretty good - but the repair estimate
I had done including a paint job came in around $900.
So i'm looking for a new Cannondale. I have looked at, but not ridden
yet the R600.
Does anyone have suggestions for Cannondale dealers and/or places I
may be able to get a good price for the R600? The one price I have
thus far for a '94 is $985.
thanks!

Why do you trade in your R400 frame and get a 2.8 Frame from a C-dale
dealer? I think they usually give $100 credit for you old frame if you
buy a new one. But you will have to transfer all your components over
if they are still good.

The most inportant thing is to find one that is your size at this time of
year. A dealer might have the price at $985 but he might not have it in
your size. Cannondale has stop 94' production by not so if they don't
have the bike in theire warehouse, the dealer is not getting one for
this year. So if you really want the R600, you might have to spend the
extra money because the dealer have the one you want in stock.

| 2782.2 | call Cannondale | MIMS::HOOD_R | Thu Jun 02 1994 13:34 | 15 | |
When I checked last year (1993), 3.0 frames were $299, 2.8 frames were
$399, and the 2.8 with a Pepperoni (?) fork was $499. Call Cannondale
at their 1-800 number (I don't know it offhand) and ask them.

You could probably get a 2.8 frame + any other replacement parts
(depending on what needs to be replaced) much cheaper.

You might also check with Belmont Wheel Works on Trapelo Road in
Belmont, Mass. They have a very good stock of Cannondale (and other)
bikes in inventory and could possibly give you either option (new
bike or re-built on new frame) that's been discussed here for a
reasonable price.
Their number is (617) 489-3577.
