Well, I remember why I hate crits... I did a major face plant last
Saturday... I raced in the public class (should've waited for the
CAT races). I simply had to get home early and plant a crab apple
tree for wifey... Next time I'm tellin' her to go and bury an apple
    and wait 3-4 years :-)

This dopey kid gets a flat (front) and continues to ride through
into a corner. He's right on the edge of the road and decides (or
his bike did) to drigt into the pack. Well, he bumped someone who
bumped a friend of mine (Sam Seppala) who banged into me.

Something went into my front wheel because I just launched. He went
down as well. I am in extreme pain, lost about 3 sq. ft. of skin.
My back and rib cage must be badly bruised. And yes, it hurts a
lot when I laugh (or cough or sneeze).

My bike survived quite well. Some small scratches on my fork, need new
handlebar tape, my helmet is a little dinged, my skewers are gouged,
both wheels went way out of true, ripped the front tite and tube open,
and loosed up a few things. Sam's bike (a Trek 5500 I think) is toast.
He snapped the downtube in half. I also know why I didn't go with a
plastic bike (and am glad after seeing that thing)...

I guess if you wanna play you gotta' pay. I'm really to old to be this
hurt... :-) Of course, my wife immediately wanted to give up the sport
and sell everything... Yup, when monkey fly outa my butt!

>Yup, when monkey fly outa my butt!

Is that how you phrased it, Chip?

Oooops... Actually, I used the plural "monkies". Right now, I think
giving birth to one might feel better than I'm feeling now... :-)

I have heard that Sue Nale Mildrum won the women's race. I don't
know whether that was licensed or public.
