2753.1Try some local bike shopsLUDWIG::ASMITHWed Apr 20 1994 13:4014
        Hope this is not a joke, if so, then shame on you :-) Probaly the
    best thing that someone who is thinking about entering racing is to
    visit a local bike shop and talk to the staff. If the shop is not
    connected to a racing team, there will surely be someone there
    who does now of one or more.
        Nine years is kind of young for racing but not too young to start
    the muscle development needed for bike racing, also, you can establish
    effective training techniques at this age.
        If I can give you some advice that should help you if you stick
    with bike racing - you should develop supreme confidence in
    your abilities but avoid becoming arrogrant. Learning and analysis
    are important in bike racing, you will probaly be a success if you
    do them well, you won't be able to excel if you become abrasive and
    self-centered.

    Suggest you think about BMX racing. That starts at with kids as young
    as 6 and rins through 18. You will learn bike handling skills and
    general racing info. Pick up a BMX magazine and call a local track
    for information.

    Good Luck
