     Well, it's official! The LEAGUE OF AMERICAN WHEELMEN moniker has been
     changed (voted) to be called LEAGUE OF AMERICAN BICYCLIST. Although
     they do retain the original name for legal/traditional purposes, this
     represents a 100 year old shift...
    
     The official voting objective was to "modernize" the club's name. This
     exercise was done a few years back and was voted down. This time it
     went through.
    
     What do you think? Was this a subversive PC maneuver or was it an
    "above board" effort to bring the club into the 90's?

	well so many of the general public don't know what wheelman is and so many others think he's just the driver of the getaway car that it's about time something got clarified for the generally uneducated public. Maybe, sooner or later we can put this issue behind us and get back to things like access to all roads and trails and things that make a difference. ed

	I'll admit that I voted for the change. Not because the new name is more PC than the old one (I've never worried about being PC); but because the new name does a better job of conveying the purpose of the organization to the general pubic. Rich
