2735.0. "1994 tours" by SSDEVO::EDMONDS (Diane) Fri Mar 11 1994 10:54

I'd like to gather information on week-long (or longer) tours
for 1994. Not commercial tours by the companies that send out
catalogs, but the Pedal the Peaks or RAGBRAI type of tour.

Various people have asked me what tours I've heard about, besides
the usual Colorado ones. I've gotten info in the mail on a
Wyoming tour and a Wisconsin tour. I'd like to find out about
more, and I assume others would too.

Great note....

My fav. is Bike Ride Across Georgia. This has been around for like 15
years and this year it will go from the Southwest corner to the atlantic
ocean. It will happen the week of June 11. The cost of the ride is usually
around $40.

I've done this ride 5 times and each year it gets alittle better organized.
They have had between 1800 and 2700 riders.

Another good ride is the Monstrous Seattle (WA) To Portland (OR)
ride. The ride was 204 Miles in one day or 102 Miles per day when I
did it in 1986. The crowd for this race is big ( one year 10000
people rode eventhough many people were turned away ). The Cascade Bicycle
Club ( Seattle ) along with the Portland Wheelmen, used to sponsor the ride.

This book lists a number of cross-state tours in its appendix. It's a pretty
good summary of a number of tours. Just noticed it at the bookstore.
