2725.0. "Touring Eastern Europe" by POLAR::NEUMANN () Mon Feb 21 1994 16:52

    Does anybody out there have any experiences or information to share
    about touring Eastern Europe (Czech/Slovak republics, Hungary, Poland)?
    The sorts of things I'm looking for:

    - names of commercial tour operators (I know about Kolotours, Goulash
    tours). Are there any others, such as LAW, British Cycling Touring
    Club?

    - has anybody toured this part of the world independently? Does
    anybody want to give it a try this spring/summer/fall?

    - any stories you may have, good, bad or indifferent.

    Dreaming of vacation as I pedal through the snow,

    Rick

    Be warned that the roads are in very poor repair in most of Eastern
    Europe, and that car/truck/bus drivers can be pretty hostile/dangerous.

    If you're in a group and have tyres adapted to a poor road surface I
    should think that you'll have a great time.
