Chip, Two corrections - there will not be separate categories for rifle and pistol (I "think" it will be pistol only) and some of the dates you listed are incorrect - all events will be held on Sunday, so the dates are: October 17th November 7th November 21st December 5th Other Info: Registration and new shooter qualification at 8:00am. Race starts at 9:30am. Each rider must bring a helmet, eye and ear protection. The entry fee is $10.00 with 50% cash payback and merchandise prizes. Firearms and ammo are provided. Directions to the Harvard Sportsman's Club - Rt 495 to Rt 2 West. Taylor Road exit. North on Taylor road (a left if your coming from from 495 South or a right if your coming from 495 North). 1/4 mile, turn left onto Porter Road. Go to the end of Porter Road and turn left onto Whitcomb. Whitcomb for 2.5 miles and left into Harvard Sportsmen's Club. **** NOTE ***** The firearms are NOT carried while riding, they stay at the range which is under the control of 2 safety officers. If you do not have a pistol permit, belong to a shooting club or have not raced in any of last years events YOU WILL NEED TO QUALIFY prior to the start of the race. Qualifying involves a lecture on safety, range rules, and practice shooting a pistol. The opening event was great fun (despite the weather). Peter Elliot and Bud Deshler did a great job laying out the course. This event was reminiscent of the earlier days in MTB competitions - few competitors and lots of fun. This was my first experience with firearms. The safety people did a great job. There was ample time for practice. I heard the November 7th EFTA race scheduled at Wrentham may not take place. This should equate to a larger turnout for the next MB Biathlon also scheduled for November 7th. Hope to see you there... Lori |
