I need to know how to measure the length of the stem. I know I have seen this in many older bike catalogues. The stem on my bike is tooooooo long and I would like to order one that is a bit shorter. Bob O.

Doesn't it say on the stem what the length is? Sometimes you'll find it stamped onto the bit of the stem that disappears into the headtube (down where it's all greasy and yucky). Otherwise, I would measure from the centre of the stem release bolt to the centre of the handlebars. Measurements are usually quoted in centimetres or millimetres. Rod |
