2544.0. "Rich Allen" by SOLVIT::MEREDITH (another hill? ugh) Tue Apr 27 1993 10:17

As you may or may not know, Rich Allen was involved in an auto accident
Sunday afternoon. He was traveling south on By-pass 28 turning left onto
Spofford, when a Ford Bronco hit his Fiat.

Rich is still in a coma at Elliot hospital in Manchester. His prognosis is
not good. The cat scan revealed a clot at the base of the brain, (indicative
of brain damage). He has shown no movement and is on a respirator.

When I talked to his wife last night, she was very shaken. I asked what we
could do for her and she said to say a prayer for Rich's recovery. Its now,
wait and see.

I'll keep you posted.

I visited the hospital last night. Rich is still in a coma and on a
respirator. Fortunately, he has no other major injuries (like broken bones).

He is starting to respond to voices and they believe he opened his eyes
for a couple of seconds. He started to move his legs when I mentioned
biking up a hill. (blood pressure and heart rate increases)

All of this is much better news as he is responding to outside stimulus.
His doctor wants to have him "emerge" from the coma before they do anything
else.

Keep the prayers coming.
2544.2For us 'stupid' ones, who is Rich Allen?ROWLET::AINSLEYLess than 150 kts. is TOO slow!Wed Apr 28 1993 12:350

I didn't find any notes in here from him, so I figured maybe some
of the other riders know him, I don't.

    Good luck anyway...

I was a read only. Rather spend my time riding and such. I finally
just got back into the file today. I was riding some already and Paul
    M. told me what the new node was so I could update my notebook. Now
    I'll go back to read-only.
