| can't you just take it back to the bike shop you bought it from and let
then handle it thru their Cannondale rep. That's part of what you pay
for.

That's what I did with mine. They didn't argue at all. I got the
impression they'd seen many with similar failures.
For those who don't know the story, both Rob and I did the RAID
Pyreneen with the same model of small Cannondale barbag. They both
died from fatigue of the mount point (sounds like an NFS fault !).
Rod_M's Agu barbag survived. On the strength of this field test, I've since
forked out for an Agu.

You're right of course, but these days getting down to Antibes when
they are open is a challenge.

| John Lee Ellis, and Linda (my wife) and I have been using custom made bar
bags for 1 to 2 years and had no problems. Of course you have to ask
the "custom maker" real nice and they only get made in the off season
and they are "custom made" especially for aero bars and such -- BUT I
DO STRONGLY recommend them.
(And John 1 year of use is like 5 or so for many of us.)

| .0 - is your bag the type that clips onto a mount? If so, how did it
fail?
I had a problem with Cannondale's mountain bike bag that attached to a
stationary mount on my handlebars via a plastic clip on the bag. Riding
down a hill in Harvard Ma. (those bumpy country roads), the bike hit a
bump doing 35+ mph and the bag flew off in front of the bike. Needless to
say, I didn't fall (otherwise I would probably be talking to my
lawyers...).
The design of the mount, to my mind, is unstable. If the plastic clip
doesn't fit into the mount snuggly, then it is possible through
bouncing, that the bag could come off.
I talked with the Cannondale rep and got my money back (the reply "it
never happened before....). I ended up buying a bag for racing bars and
then using plyers to force the metal bar (that holds the bag) down so
that it was horizontal. Works great.

My bag and Rob's both failed because the attachment of the plastic clip
to the bag itself worked its way through the cheap plastic backing of
the bag until the clip detached itself. The way bar bags hang, this
point bears most of the weight of the bag and plainly isn't strong
enough.
WRT the problem in .12, I have noticed that the clip doesn't always
engage properly. IMHO Cannondale's reputation for quality
is not always deserved. Their 8 panel shorts are wonderful (so far)
but their alu bottle cages fail quickly. Maybe they export the stuff
that fails QA.

| I contacted Cannondale (just yesterday) for Rob. They're
sending him the parts he needs to replace what is broken.
I told the woman I talked to that I thought the design could
have been better.

tricky from this side of the puddle.
I'll add a reply when the parts arrive...
