| I for one would go with the HARO, probably because I own a HARO Extreme
Comp and love the way it rides and it's easy to throw around. Since your
down to three choices I imagine you have test ridden these bikes. Then
comes components. Your component group can always be upgraded, but
starting with a better quality group will pay off in the long run
(also on the trail). I know nothing about the Raleigh Tactic...
What component group is offered on these bikes?

I don't know much about the 3 models that you listed, except to say
that HARO has a good reputation for quality and that the GIANT is a
good value for the money. Unless you have narrowed your choice to
these 3, I would keep shopping around because there are other makes/
models in that price range that are good and, at this time of the year,
there are some good deals to be had. Make sure to test ride the bikes
so that you buy one that fits you properly.

The Giant Iguana was rated as a "best buy" by Consumer's Reports.
The Raleigh and Haro are built by the same parent company and although
I haven't seen or ridden a Haro, I am satisfied with the workmanship
and quality of my Raleigh (Crest -which is in the same price range). At
this time of year I would shop around a lot; last year at this time, a
friend of mine got a really nice aluminum Trek with barends thrown in
for $400, so there ARE some great deals out there. Good luck!

| Well I did it! I went out saturday, tried a few bikes and ended up
buying a "specialized rockhopper" the price was the same as the haro
and the componentry was a litle better, plus it is a '93' bike and the
haro was a '92' model, and the rockhopper feels better.
